Perrotin Gallery presents the first solo exhibition of the New York-based artist Matthew Ronay and eight sculptures of his latest creation. Starting with subconscious drawing, these organ- and sea creature-like sculptures were hand-carved from basswood and dyed with a phosphorescent palette to represent the interaction and confrontation between different entities. In Ronay’s own words, these works ‘embody forms in diametric opposition: meetings, clashes and forgatherings'. Matthew Ronay was born in 1976 in Louisville, Kentucky and his work has been exhibited internationally.
