Disney has been keen to build a theme park in China since the 1990s.
Things looked promising with the signing of a letter of intent between Shanghai's local government and Disney in 2002, but the envisioned 2008 opening
was overly optimistic and construction took until 2011 to commence.
On June 16 2016, Shanghai Disneyland finally opened to an excited public.
